Testing Facilities

4000A, SHORT CIRCUIT TEST

A CPRI (Central Power Research Institute) test profile for a 415 VAC, 4000 A Low Tension (LT) Panel defines the type tests and routine tests required to certify the panel as per Indian and IEC standards.

• Temperature Rise Test: The panel is tested to ensure that the temperature rise of the busbars, terminals, and components (like Air Circuit Breakers - ACBs) does not exceed limits, especially at high ambient temperatures (+40°C or higher).
• Short Circuit Withstand: The panel must withstand specific short-circuit current levels (e.g., 50kA, 65kA, or up to 100kA for 1s/3s).
• Degree of Protection (IP Rating): Tests for ingress of dust and liquids (typically IP42 to IP55).
• Internal Arc Testing: Type testing for safety against internal arc faults, often critical for 4000A panels, ensures safety during a short-circuit event.
• Dielectric Properties & Clearances: Testing insulation resistance and clearance/creepage distance.

• Standards: Tests are conducted in accordance with IS/IEC 61439-1&2 or IS 8623.

TEMPERATURE RISE TEST

T0204 – 415 V, 4000 A, 3 Phase LT Panel (Power-cum-Motor Control Center) – CPRI Type Test Description

As per customer requirement & procedure followed as per lS/lEC
The 415V, 4000A, 3-Phase PCC cum MCC Panel (Ref: T0204) is type tested at CPRI as per IS 61439-1 & 61439-2 2020 for temperature rise, short circuit withstand (50/65kA for 1 sec), dielectric properties, IP protection, and mechanical operation. Routine tests shall be conducted on each panel prior to dispatch.

For LT panels tested at Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), IP-55 verification is part of type testing as per IS 61439-1 / IS 61439-2.
